ART MUST HAVE A MESSAGE

Artwork Title: “From Orpheus the creator to the contemporary man

Material:  Marble and stone. Artwork dimensions : Height/Width/Depth : 150x87x57 cm. Year of creation: © 2022 This is a unique work Technique: carved.

Description

The message of these sculptures is about a new language of the human body in relation to technology.

The way we see and perceive art and things around us has changed, almost exclusively through the phone or other Internet-connected devices.

The Internet, through its egalitarian status, allows many millions of people to see sculptures and paintings without the mediation of a single cultural hierarchy.

The thousands of kilometers distance melt away and the window to another world opens wide.

The reality is that in the last hundred years, mankind has made a huge technical leap, experienced unprecedented innovations and changes.

Notice that the facial physiognomy of the two characters in my sculptures are relatively similar, the man has not changed, only technology has shaped his behavior.

More recently, the TV remote control seems to be abandoned in favor of new Internet technologies.

On the other hand, this new virtual way of looking has opened people's keen appetite for the sensational, so that contemplation, which is the golden vein of culture, seems to be lost.

Evolution or involution? This is the question !

Artwork Title: “Hydro erosion

Material:  marble.
Artwork dimensions : Height/Width/Depth : 35 x 35 x 16 cm, Weight: 20 kg.
Year of creation: © 2019
This is a unique work
Technique: direct carving with traditional tools.

Description

As a child, I was impressed by the force of the swirling water, which, following the rapid summer rains, filled the riverbeds of dry springs to the brim, bringing stone cliffs of impressive sizes or tree trunks.

Water, the primary necessity without which life, flora and fauna, cannot exist, becomes strong under the influence of gravity.

The entire earth is shaped by the erosive force of rainwater that gradually removes successive layers of the surface, leaving behind areas of erosion-resistant rocks that appear as isolated rocks or mountains.

Water – metaphor of life, beauty, catastrophes, uncontrollable force, passage of time, death.

Artwork Title: “I am you Fascination

Material:  Walnut wood and marble. Artwork dimensions : Height/Width/Depth : 56 x 40 x 50 cm. Weight: 14 kg. Technique: direct carving with traditional tools. Year of creation: © 2022 This is a unique work

Description

I designed the sculpture by combining two particularly beautiful materials from nature: walnut wood and marble, on the principle of "conceptual art", where the idea ("idea art"), the conception, the process of the work, are considered more significant than the concrete, ultimate form of a certain creation.

This sculpture is part of the "Beauty of Walnut" series, where through direct sculpture I explored the texture, contrast and shape of walnut wood, carving on the cross sections of the wood, on the head of the fibers, where the wood. it is very hard, but reveals its dynamic beauty of growth.

The two marble figures are fascinated by finding friendship and empathy through interaction with fellow humans in a society tainted by loneliness in the internet age.

Fascinating because in the last hundred years, humanity has experienced unprecedented innovation and change - from skyscrapers to the moon landing, to social media, to human rights and the democratization of art.

At the moment in our society everything moves very fast, time does not seem enough anymore, artists seem to find their way much harder, continuous changes create the need for a continuous state of Transcendence and this is reflected in contemporary art.

Artwork Title: “Icarus - the dream of freedom

Material:  Marble, threaded iron and wood.
Artwork dimensions : Height/Width/Depth : 101 x 74 x 37 cm.
Weight: 28 kg.
Year of creation: © 2021
This is a unique work
Technique: carved.

Description

This sculpture is part of a series of sculptures that take sequences from the narrative context of legends of ancient Greek civilization and sculpt the result of my imagination in a new way of seeing in the modern era, different, sometimes suggesting movement in the process of metamorphosis.

Icarus, the legend that stands as a testimony to one of man's greatest dreams: that of flying.

Icarus is the symbol of the man who tries to surpass himself, but the excess of zeal, haste, inexperience and disobedience to parental counsel kill his dream.

Whatever meaning we choose, the story remains enchanting and in its first, non-plasticized sense, in which the one who exalts Icarus is the dream of freedom, kept under the fragile wings of the dreamer and defended at the cost of his life.

Artwork Title: “Lesson about the circle

Material:  Marble and stone. Artwork dimensions : Height/Width/Depth : 42 x 30 x 72 cm. Weight: 11 kg. Year of creation: © 2023 This is a unique work Technique: direct carving with traditional tools.

Description

"Lesson about the circle" is a visual work adapted from Nichita Stănescu's poem.

A visual metaphor of message-carrying words, invites the viewer to experience feelings like forgiveness, accepting imperfection as perfection, sacrificing something of yourself for the infinite gift of Nature.

The lesson about the circle

Poet: Nchita Stănescu
A circle is drawn on the sand
after which it is cut in two,
with the same hazelnut stick, cut it in two.
After that he falls to his knees,
after that he was leaning over him.
After that, he hits the sand with his forehead
and the circle is asked for forgiveness.
That's it.
